Description
Zhakiram is a non communal protector of the Gelug sect Sera Monastery in Tibetan Buddhism, enshrined in Zhakiram Monastery. It is said that she was a maimed concubine in the imperial palace during the reign of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty. Her soul was transformed by an eminent monk in Xizang and she followed her into Tibet. Because women were not allowed to enter the Sera Temple, she was placed in the Zhaji Temple. Later, she was granted the title of Dharmapala, and gradually became the only female god of wealth in Tibet.
